New bar for 56 North-ers??

So come on James.....give us all the gossip! I hear from Ruben that you are taking on Native State. When are you opening?

Yeah sorry been mad busy so not posted anything... Never really realised how huge a bar Native was till we got in the place (350 capacity )

We've took it mid January and agreed the deal in principle on the monday and had the keys at 10am on the tuesday so you imagine i've been a little upside down this past month so sorry for the lack of banter....

Obviously with it being on top of 56 we want to make it a fair bit different so we don't steal trade from ourselves.

Few of the basics:

Following our policy of picking a main spirit for the bar (56 is gin) this time its going to be Rum, Kiki,10 cane is involved, Ruban is all over it,

Drinks menu is going to be relativly simple with the emphasis on bigger serves and sharing stuff but with our core cocktails and a big shooters list and the big rum list. Its also going to have some stunning deals to keep the students happy and bums on seats, (£1.95 jagerbombs, spring to mind)

Food menu will be similar DNA to 56, so all fresh, tasty and big

Others fun things are a perminante Wii in the bar for customers to play, designer pool table with the fireplace up the back, and some fun retro 80's gaming graphics on the walls. We've gutted the place and made it really bright and airy so you won't recognise it

Should be open mid week next week as i have a full team on site all weekend.

It used to be a regular sunday afternoon chill spot for me too when I lived at potterrow a few years back but always wished the folks running it would raise their game in terms of quality of service and product - surely won't have to worry about that now!

Not really sure where it came from on our list of ideas (must have been our rum inspired list) but we gave the design guys 4/5 names we had on a short list and asked for logos and graphics ideas to help us make a final call. Everyone seemed to like the Koko logo and graphics the best so it stuck

Hoping to be open by Wed now with the ever moving goal posts

Place is looking great so very excited now.
