Roti on the move

Surely on the site of Rogue ? From today's Evenin' News.

Top chef to spice up city's financial hub

ONE of Edinburgh's best-known chefs has unveiled plans to move his restaurant to the heart of the city's financial district.

Tony Singh is to relocate his award-winning Indian restaurant Roti to a site just off Morrison Street, near the Edinburgh International Conference Centre.

The new restaurant, which is due to open on July 27, is more than double the size of the current Roti on Rose Street North Lane, and will also feature a wine bar.

Mr Singh will also be introducing a new tapas-style menu, which will see diners being served their meals in "tiffin" boxes - the stackable, metal tins used on the sub-continent to keep food hot.

Mr Singh said: "The relocation and expansion of Roti is a landmark in our business growth strategy. The existing site was perfect when Roti was born, but now it has established itself as one of Edinburgh's finest restaurants, it's time to move onwards and upwards.

"Whilst Roti currently offers a quiet, oasis-like location, in order for us to meet the consistently high demand, we're relocating to a more prominent, visible location."

The existing Roti will close on July 21 to make way for the new venture.

Went on Saturday with Les and Freddy and couldn't get a table. Outrage ! :o AND alas, didn't get a look around. It used to look right tasty when it was Rogue.

Wonder what happened to the gnome ?

I was there this evening for the official drinks and canapes reception. The ever lovely Dave Pryde kept our glasses well topped up for the evening.

I only vaguely remember Rogue as was. Roti seems to be warmer and more inviting. The canapes were delicious - can't wait to check out the full menu.

And my favourite touch of the evening?? As we left, all the ladies were presented with a gorgeous pink pashmina. This has to be the most memorable way to leave a restaurant reception. Totally loved it!!!

Nice touch indeed. Judging by this seasons climate, i would have opted for a branded umbrella, and killed two birds ( pardon ) with the one stone. :P
